The Three Types of Asbestos Survey
There are three main types of asbestos survey: an Asbestos Management Survey, an Asbestos Refurbishment Survey, and an Asbestos Demolition Survey. Which one you need depends on what is happening to the building, an occupied building being used normally needs a different survey to one about to be refurbished or knocked down.
Legal Requirement
An asbestos survey is a legal requirement for buildings built before the year 2000. The use of all forms of asbestos ceased in the UK in 1999, so any building constructed or last refurbished before that date is presumed to contain asbestos until proven otherwise.
Asbestos Management Survey
The purpose of the management survey is to help the duty holder prepare an asbestos management plan. To prepare that plan, you need to know whether asbestos is present in the building, where it is, and what condition it is in. This is the right survey for a building that is in normal, everyday occupation and use.

Contents of Our Asbestos Survey Report
The report contains a summary detailing any asbestos found, a detailed drawing showing the location of all identified asbestos, an Asbestos Material Risk Register showing the risk posed by any asbestos products and how to reduce that risk to the lowest possible level, and a room register. The room register provides information on every area surveyed and the materials found within it, whether they contain asbestos or not.
Asbestos Management Plan
An asbestos management plan is a legal necessity for all non-domestic properties containing asbestos-based materials, and is the practical document that puts the findings of your management survey into action.
